Scrap Squad Scraplift - #7 12 Days of Summer Scraplifts

Last month Scrap Squad hosted their 12 Days of Summer event with a new Scraplift every day from the 1st - 12th July.

The original layout for Day 7 was designed by Anke Kramer for Hip Kit Club and while I stayed true to the inspiration, I had a bit of an epiphany: what if I punched Daisy’s name out and used it as a hanging banner?

This layout took hours to bring to life, but I’m genuinely thrilled with the result—it turned out exactly as I’d imagined when sketching it out.

Papers are a mixture from stash - Jenni Bowlin (2013) Glitz Design (2013) and the blue has Nursery pictures on the reverse but a great colour to blend with the green. The fussy cut flowers are from a sheet of Vicki Boutin and the Daisy perspextives are Bramble Fox.

Here is my process:

My little sketch of how I wanted it to look. If I'm not going to follow a scraplift exactly I make a quick sketch so I can see where I am putting things

This is the start of my process putting the colours together and finding my tools.

Here I have a  lot cut out and I'm checking how it fits on the paper. The original has wonky stripes so I didn’t measure exactly but got them balanced across the page.

Hand stitched each strip - I use the We Are Memory Keepers Sew Easy tools to punch the holes so neatly. I’ve stuck the blue stripes a bit wonky and like the original the blue is not even or on the same side for each strip.

Next the photo is stuck down then I've worked from right to left with each letter on foam pads. The thread is still loose at this point.

Eyelets did make it easier to move about on the thread.

The ends of the thread is looped and stapled like the original.

I use clear glue over the thread to keep it in position - it's quite invisible unless on extreme close up!

Layout completed including the Bramble Fox Daisy perspextives

Scraplifting is to copy or be inspired from someone else’s layout - scraplifting is well received and common in the scrapbook community however it is best practice to give credit to the original creator who influenced you.
